Assignment #10 Chop Shop

Chop Shop is a 2007 American drama film co-written, edited, and directed by Ramin Bahrani. The film tells the story of a twelve-year-old street orphan living and working in Willets Point, an area in Queens, New York filled with automobile repair shops, scrapyards and garbage dumps.

This a really sad story about “Ale”12-year-old Latino street orphan from Queens, New York. The film opens with Ale waiting by a roadside with several other men for work. A man in pickup truck arrives looking for two workers. He tells Ale that he is not needed but Ale jumps into the back of the truck anyway. After realizing that Ale is in the back, he stops the truck and sends Ale on his way with some money for breakfast. Ale spends rest of the day selling chocolate and candy to passengers on trains with his friend Carlos.  After they finish selling the candy, Carlos informs Ale that Rob the owner of an auto repair shop in Willets Point, is looking for new workers.

Ale soon begins working at the repair shop, which Rob has also allowed him to live in. He is soon joined by his sister Isamar  who he finds work for in a food van that sells food to workers on the street. Ale later finds a van being sold by Carlos’ uncle that he believes he can fix up and turn into his and Izzy’s own food van business. The two begin saving their money to buy the $4,500 van. One night, Ale and Carlos go to the nearby truck stop to see the prostitutes working. There they discover that Isamar is working as a prostitute. Ale is disheartened by the fact but does not confront Isamar about it. The two continue working and saving their money up for the van. Ale makes additional money by selling pirated DVDs, selling hubcaps he steals from cars parked at the nearby stadium, and working for another auto shop owner, Ahmad by stripping down a stolen car.

Even when Ale found out that his sister was working as a prostitute I think he understood her because he realized that she wanted to help him that’s why she always gave him money to save to buy the truck, and she always cared about him.

Assignment #9 Women on Tv

I actually don’t like to watch shows like “Girls” but my opinion about this is that these Tv shows portrays like a negative image for girls, I don’t know I might be wrong. When I watched this TV show I could see how girls are doing whatever they want with their live, they makes parties bring boys to their house and if they want they can have sex with anyone because they think this is something cool that they have to do just to satisfied themselves.

I also think that when girl watch this shows they start thinking that there’s nothing wrong with it and they can do it too, because that’s what girls do now in days. But when boys watch these shows they start thing about girls and the thing that they could do with them, like oh it’s easy to find a girl and have sex with her. In other words these shows show boys and girls how to cheat and that there’s nothing wrong with cheating on their relationships.

Assignment #5

Iris portrays a singular woman whose enthusiasm for fashion, when I saw the film I never thought it was going to be so good, She reminds me of my boss he’s a great designer in sweaters for women. He has a unique way to developed sweaters in different styles and he just enjoys doing that because I really think he’s the best doing it. Iris has something similar. She decided to go to different places collecting unique Items to create unique things for fashion and that’s something unique.

I think she’s a pioneer because of the way she combines different items to make them seem amazing, and not only that also the relationship between her and her husband it’s just amazing spending six decades is really amazing. They care so much about each other.

She is a trail blazer because she loved traveling to different places to collect different items and combine them and make beautiful stuff with it, that’s what she loved to do and that’s what made Iris so famous in fashion. Also the way she said things it’s so passionate the way she expressed herself, I could see how much she loved doing that.
